True Kensho does not come, does not go, but one should manifest it in everything one does.
The one realizable fact is that there is no refuge outside of moment and there is no moment that is unchanging. So refuge has got to be something other than this fixed place where… a cozy nest… It has got to be some kind of freefall, as the very shifting movement of change itself. Not that one could strategize to feel that, but we can wake up to it.
But we are not going to be in freefall forever. Forever is another dimension entirely. It is our mystery and possibility.
I have spent a lot of time trying to get over who I am. The single most important practice I have found is mu. And it will be the pointer to one’s refuge in a moment. It will be the practice of returning to what is. It takes some try mind, willingness to let go of rage or joy or whatever one is holding onto. Just mu. Mu is mu is mu is mu. I know of no other practice that is as reliably grounding, pointing to this fundamental point of “just this is it. “
Clouds come and go - they are held by the sky. But the sky does not come and go.
Give up self interest and be the space for emotional co-regulation; you can’t emotionally regulate without a friend. Be that friend to everything.
